Meet The Beehive Board
President and Founder
Editor, Share the Rare
My name is Meredith Otness. I am a Sophomore at Memorial High School. I was inspired to create The Beehive by my older brother, John, who has a rare genetic disorder and related developmental disabilities. John has a lot of challenges, but, like a typical teenager, he loves being with his friends and doing fun things. Unfortunately, appropriate, safe events for John and his friends are not always easy to find. The times John has been invited to social gatherings he has been over the moon exited. I hope to provide these typical teenage experiences for John, his friends, and other kids with similar challenges on a regular basis that they can anticipate. I have voluntered and been a teacher's aide in Life Skills for the past three years, and building relationships with kids with a wide array of talents and challenges brought me a lot of joy. I strive to build a community where everyone can feel included and have fun!
Vice President and Co-Founder
My name is Edie Mahan, and I am a Sophomore at Stratford High School. I decided I wanted to become a co-founder of Beehive because I have grown up playing with kids who have disabilities, and once I got to Memorial Middle School I had the amazing opportunity to volunteer in the Life Skills classroom and develop long lasting relationships with the kids.
Director of Graphic Design and Media
My name is Rosemary Moore, and I am a Senior at HCHS. I became a board member at Beehive because I have always enjoyed spending time with individuals with special needs. I have volunteered with individuals with special needs at CBTX, Super Place Camp, and my church. I am looking forward to meeting and engaging with everyone who attends our events!
Director of Outreach
My name is Luke Kovacs and I am a Sophomore at Stratford. I joined the Beehive because of my love for people with special needs and the special needs community. I love the Beehive because of the inclusive atmosphere and all of the people who help to run and volunteer the program. It is a very special place and I am very excited for what this year will bring

Co-Founder
My name is Jackson Yi and I’m a Junior at HCHS. I’m a co-founder at Beehive because I have a sister with Down Syndrome, who always wants to go on events with her friends such as karaoke nights or parties. Beehive provides that opportunity. With my experience volunteering in the Life Skills Class at MMS, and at CBTX, I will provide a place where everyone will have the best experience!
